Murtha forgets to insert $25 million into hospital
Dies as a result. Hospital officials stated that Murtha promised them $25 million for a new facility to be named after the Congressman so people from Pennsylvania could have their own private rooms if they happened to need care while in the area. "However, he failed to deliver, so we had to turn his machines off," said an unnamed hospital official.

One less scumbag in Congress!

The worst part is Murtha is bribing the people of Pennsylvania with your money
Whether you live in Pennsylvania or not!

You know, in Colonial times people like Murtha were tarred and feathered.

More evidence that John Murtha is stealing your tax dollars
Gee...do you think something might be wrong with this picture?
The headquarters of Murtech, in a low-slung, bland building in a Glen Burnie business park, has its blinds drawn tight and few signs of life. On several days of visits, a handful of cars sit in the parking lot, and no trucks arrive at the 10 loading bays at the back of the building.

Hmmm...doesn't sound like a busy defense contractor, does it?
Yet last year, Murtech received $4 million in Pentagon work, all of it without competition, for a variety of warehousing and engineering services. With its long corridor of sparsely occupied offices and an unmanned reception area, Murtech's most striking feature is its owner -- Robert C. Murtha Jr., 49. He is the nephew of Rep. John P. Murtha, the Pennsylvania Democrat who has significant sway over the Defense Department's spending as chairman of the House Appropriations defense subcommittee.

Remember when the standard for Republicans was that they had to avoid "even the appearance of impropriety"?

Hey, Obama, I've found another place where you can cut millions in pork!

This would be front-page news in the MSM if a Republican did it
Some of the most wasteful spending ever.
Inside the terminal on a recent weekday, four passengers lined up to board a flight, outnumbered by seven security staff members and supervisors, all suited up in gloves and uniforms to screen six pieces of luggage. For three hours that day, no commercial or private planes took off or landed. Three commercial flights leave the airport on weekdays, all bound for Dulles International Airport.

The key to the airport's gleaming facilities -- and, indeed, its continued existence -- is $200 million in federal funds in the past decade and the powerful patron who steered most of that money here. Rep. John P. Murtha (D-Pa.) is credited with securing at least $150 million for the airport. It was among the first in the country to win funding from this year's stimulus package: $800,000 to repave a backup runway.

It would be cheaper to give free limo rides to D.C. for the people flying out of this airport. I can't believe the people of Pennsylvania keep sending this man back to Congress.

John Murtha: Pennsylvania is raaaaaacist!
Murtha, stabbing his own constituents in the back.
There’s no question Western Pennsylvania is a racist area.

Because, of course, you can't disagree with someone on policy if they aren't a white male.

Obama only won six counties in Pennsylvania. Apparently it is the entire state (outside of Philadelphia, Harrisburg and State College) that is raaaaaacist!

Why do people still take this man seriously?

Clinton and Pelosi: ethical is in the eye of the beholder
Nancy Pelosi is holding to her incredibly low and hypocritical standard of "ethical" behavior for the Democrat controlled House.
WASHINGTON (AP) - Republicans will seek a House vote next week admonishing a senior Democrat who they say threatened a GOP member's spending projects in a noisy exchange in the House chamber, Minority Leader John Boehner said Friday.

Their target is Rep. John P. Murtha, D-Pa., a 35-year House veteran who chairs the appropriations subcommittee on military spending. Murtha, 74, is known for his gruff manner and fondness for earmarks - carefully targeted spending items placed in appropriations bills to benefit a specific lawmaker or favorite constituent group.

During a series of House votes Thursday, Murtha walked to the chamber's Republican side to confront Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich., a 43-year-old former FBI agent. Earlier this month, Rogers had tried unsuccessfully to strike a Murtha earmark from an intelligence spending bill. The item would restore $23 million for the National Drug Intelligence Center, a facility in Murtha's Pennsylvania district that some Republicans say is unneeded.

According to Rogers' account, which Murtha did not dispute, the Democrat angrily told Rogers he should never seek earmarks of his own because "you're not going to get any, now or forever."

Because, you know, the Democrats will be "different" if you elect them. Earmarks? Unilateral control? Authoritarian leadership? No, Democrats would never do that if you put them back into power!

Pelosi is having the most ethical House administration in history just like Bill Clinton had the most ethical presidency in history!

Suckers!

Murtha does it again!
Representative John Murtha (D-PA) has stuck his foot in his mouth again.

After being humiliated into voting against his own proposal for Iraq just a few days ago, Murtha dropped another load while speaking in Latrobe, Pennsylvania to a civic group.
LATROBE, Pa. (AP) - Most U.S. troops will leave Iraq within a year because the Army is "broken, worn out" and "living hand to mouth," Rep. John Murtha told a civic group.

Yes, the man served in the military many years ago. That doesn't stop him from doing (or saying) stupid things.

Just ask his former fellow Representative Randy Cunningham.

Update: : Text of Roll Call article about Murtha's anticipated ethics problems.
By John Bresnahan
Roll Call Staff

Friday, Nov. 18

Republican lawmakers say that ties between Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) and his brother’s lobbying firm, KSA Consulting, may warrant investigation by the House ethics committee.

The calls come as Murtha, a former Marine and pro-military Democrat, has made headlines this week by coming out in support of a rapid withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq.

According to a June 13 article in The Los Angeles Times, the fiscal 2005 defense appropriations bill included more than $20 million in funding for at least 10 companies for whom KSA lobbied. Carmen Scialabba, a longtime Murtha aide, works at KSA as well.

KSA directly lobbied Murtha’s office on behalf of seven companies, and a Murtha aide told a defense contractor that it should retain KSA to represent it, according to the LA Times.

In early 2004, Murtha reportedly leaned on U.S. Navy officials to sign a contract to transfer the Hunters Point Shipyard to the city of San Francisco, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. A company called Lennar Inc. had right to the land, and Laurence Pelosi, nephew to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), was an executive with the firm at that time.

Murtha also inserted earmarks in defense bills that steered millions of dollars in federal research funds toward companies owned by children of fellow Pennsylvania Rep. Paul Kanjorski (D).

Murtha and KSA have denied engaging in any improper or unethical behavior. Murtha’s offices in Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C., could not be reached for comment at press time.

But with GOP leaders infuriated by Murtha’s declaration this week that the United States should pull all its military forces out of Iraq in six months, renewed attention is being focused on Murtha’s dealings with KSA.

“I have read the articles about these appropriations projects that benefited his brother’s lobbying firm,” said Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.). “If there is a potential pattern where Congressman Murtha has helped other Democrats secure appropriations that also benefited relatives of those Members, I believe this would be something that merits further review by the ethics committee.”

Another GOP lawmaker, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said Murtha “is playing footsie with his brother’s lobbying firm using taxpayer money.”

This Member said Republicans have considered filing an ethics complaint against Murtha, although the preference among GOP insiders is for the ethics committee to look into this issue on its own authority, as it did in the previous Congress in initiating an investigation into former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas).

Even some Democrats privately acknowledged that a preliminary probe of Murtha by the ethics panel is possible next year, although the chances of a full-blown investigation are still unclear.

Jennifer Crider, a Pelosi aide, dismissed the allegation that the Minority Leader was involved in anything improper as “absolutely ludicrous, and an attempt to divert from the real issue that Mr. Murtha is attempting to engage in debate on a critically important topic — U.S. policy in Iraq. The real story here is the Republican strategy to try to discredit at Congressman Murtha” while he is pushing for a U.S. pullout from Iraq.

Republicans acknowledge that Murtha’s Iraq statement — coming from a Member with strong military credentials — is driving their renewed focus on the ethics questions surrounding the veteran Democratic lawmaker.

“It strikes at the heart of his credibility on [military] issues,” said the GOP lawmaker. “He’s put himself on the frontline.”
