If Al Franken says it, it's usually a lie. Especially if he's trying to convince you that a course of action is good.
Say he's trying to convince you that a piece of legislation is about protecting people from getting raped. You can be sure it's not about rape, but rather an attempt to circumvent contractual obligations (on the government side, of course).
Because we all know what Al Franken really thinks about rape. Al Franken thinks rape is a joke.

It may not be ironic that a professional liar and personal attack artist has become a politician and won a seat in the Senate. Indeed some would argue that Al Franken is merely "rising" to his potential in that field.
It is however, a sad day for America. That such a vile piece of human scum is representing good, honest people is a tragedy.
Newly minted as a Senator, Franken is already one of the worst politicians ever. Born in scandal, his political career will surely end that way as well.

Democrats in Minnesota have stopped counting. They've manufactured enough votes to claim that Franken has won.
And so democracy dies a little more.
The Franken candidacy alone was enough to make US politics the object of ridicule. This will simply make it even more so. That such a liar and miscreant could achieve this infamous feat speaks volumes about the state of the Democrat Party and the level of corruption in Minnesota.
It's a sad day for democracy and an even sadder day for the United States.

This is how you steal a Senate seat.
Some board decisions on votes are exceedingly difficult to understand, and even watching the television coverage of their decisions this last week provided little additional insight. Here is an example where the Minnesota Canvassing Board claims the vote is clearly for Franken. Voters are supposed to fill in the small oval next to a candidate’s name to vote for that candidate. The board explains its decision as there being "No Dup" (presumably meaning that there was no duplicate ballot), but it is not clear how that would switch what looks like an obvious Coleman vote to a Franken vote. FOXNews.com - Ballot Madness: Tipping the Scales in Minnesota's Senate Recount - Opinion How to divine voter intent in Minnesota:
If there is a clear vote for Franken, count the vote as one for Franken. Otherwise, count the vote as one for Franken.
