President Barack Obama, along with many Democrats, likes to say that, while they may disagree with the GOP on many issues related to national security, they absolutely share their admiration and dedication to members of our armed forces. Obama, in particular, enjoys being seen visiting troops and having photos taken with members of our military. So, why is his campaign and the Democrat party suing to restrict their ability to vote in the upcoming election?

On July 17th, the Obama for America Campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and the Ohio Democratic Party filed suit in OH to strike down part of that state's law governing voting by members of the military. Their suit said that part of the law is "arbitrary" with "no discernible rational basis."

Currently, Ohio allows the public to vote early in-person up until the Friday before the election. Members of the military are given three extra days to do so.

The left, especially the rage addicts here on ONTD political, are deeply in denial over Chick-fil-A. When their attempts to bully and intimidate the restaurant failed spectacularly ($100 million in sales in one day!) and their silly "kiss in" was a flop of equal proportions they've simply turned to another Big Lie about the chain.

The hate-filled bigots on the left are now claiming that the President of Chick-fil-A has promised to "fire anyone who is gay" and display a map of where "people can be fired simply for being gay" (i.e., there isn't a specific law against it) with the Chick-fil-A logo plastered all over it.

It's silly, and they obviously haven't learned their lesson about being bigots and bullies. When Chick-fil-A continues to be a popular restaurant and (in all likelyhood) sets sales record for this quarter they will not doubt claim it is "hate" from their opponents who made that happen.

Nope, it's YOUR hate that made that happen! Look in the mirror, do you like what you see?

I pledge to keep eating at Chick-fil-A as long as certain political operatives keep trying to use the Big Lie technique against them. Chick-fil-A is NOT firing anyone who is gay, so stop posting maps of the US "where Chick-fil-A has promised to fire gay people!!!111!1111!!111!!". If you want to pass laws saying it's illegal to fire someone just for being gay, then fine, do that. But don't keep dragging Chick-fil-A into it because you don't like them. That's dishonest and makes you a bigot and a bully. Didn't you learn that lesson from the attempt to use political force against them?

And if you need reminded I don't think the (federal) government should be involved in marriage in the first place. I refuse, however, to sit idly by while politicians and their hired goons make scapegoats out of people and companies they don't like.

The list of things that could use $1.6 million in funding in the United States probably exceeds 1.6 million itself. Yet the Obama administration, ever eager to buy votes, has decided that funding the restoration of racist, anti-American murals in California is at the top of the list.

Those of you suffering in California have my continued sympathies. Get out while you still can! It won't be long before the Democrats nationalize all the property there.

Any time someone accuses the Republicans of being racist, they should point to this and ask how anyone who is against racism could support Obama and the people behind these disgusting murals that glorify Communist dictators and murderers.

Still blaming Bush

It's 2012 and the left is still blaming Bush for their own failures.

We have historical precedent with which to measure Obama and his policies. For example, President Reagan inherited many of the same problems that Obama did. However, Reagan's policies had already led to a record-setting economic expansion by this time in his first term. Obama and his policies still have us mired deeply in recession.

Instead of being adults and accepting responsibility for their actions and policies Obama and his allies in Congress are still trying to blame President Bush, despite the fact that it's been more than three years since Bush did anything substantial as President and more than five years since Democrats held sway in Congress (a Congress that Obama was part of, no less).

Speaking of Congress, since the Republicans regained the House after the 2010 elections they have passed numerous bills aimed at improving the economy, balancing the budget, etc. only to have the Senate (still #occupied by Democrats) block them.

When our children act this way we send them to a time-out to rethink their actions. I think that's a great way to solve our problems with the Democrats in 2012. Send them to a political time-out in November so they can reconsider their actions.

Liberals have greatly accelerated their plans to enslave enough of the populace to guarantee a "voting majority". The plan should be obvious to all but so many refuse to acknowledge it for what it is: slavery.

Liberals were handed a gift when federal taxes were lifted from about half the population. With such a large number of people not paying into the system it was easy to expand the "vilify the rich" propaganda and blame all of the nation's ills on those evil rich people. If only they would pay even more in taxes no one would have to worry about anything! Everything would be free!

Coupled with the huge increase in government employment (and the lavish pay and retirement benefits layered on in the 1990s and 2000s) the left now has a powerful army of followers ready to fight tooth and nail to keep their comfortable slave society intact.

Democrats have bet that the problem with slavery wasn't that it's an unethical, criminal activity but that it wasn't cushy enough for the victims. Forget the steel chains and prison-like housing...provide the victims with economic chains and a velvet-lined cage and they will happily throw away the keys themselves.

People who work with elephants know that once the elephant has learned that a chain restricts them they can be controlled without the real chains because the elephant will continue to feel restrained psychologically. Democrats know the same thing is true of some voters. They are betting that at least 51% of them will not only feel psychologically constrained by liberalism, but be comfortable enough in their slavery to not want to do anything about it.

Remember when the teachers in Central Falls, Rhode Island refused to make minimal changes in order to save their highly-paid, cushy jobs (which were apparently to fail to teach kids how to do things like read and write) until they got fired?

Well, the whole city is now "fired" thanks to similar circumstances with the rest of the unionized city workers dragging down the city into bankruptcy.

The smallest city in the smallest U.S. state made the filing as it grappled with an $80 million unfunded pension and retiree health benefit liability that is nearly quadruple its annual budget of $17 million.

That's right...a city a mere 1.3 square miles racked up tens of millions in retirement benefits it couldn't pay off.

Just what Scott Walker and other Republicans have been saying will happen to entire states if changes are not made.

Oh and did I mention the entire nation has a similar problem?

Fake deal is fake

I hope no one is taken in by the fake budget "deal" being ballyhooed by the MSM and Washington insiders. It is nothing more than a giant joke on America and a sucker's bet for anyone who acts on the belief that it will result in meaningful spending cuts.

The fact that it calls for another budget commission and that nothing will happen until after the 2012 elections is all the evidence anyone needs to see that nothing will ever come from this agreement except the ability of the government to borrow more money as the debt ceiling is lifted.

The Democrats are of course betting they can retake the House and just pass tax hikes in 2013 and the Republicans are again playing Charlie Brown to the Democrat Lucy when it comes to kicking the "spending cuts later" football. Unless Republicans get either a veto-proof margin in both houses of Congress and/or reclaim the presidency there is no way that meaningful spending cuts will ever be signed into law.

Indeed, the planned "cuts" are more of the same old tricks: pretend you want to spend $20 more than you have, reduce your demands to $10 more than you have and then claim you've "cut" $10 from spending.

It's a disgrace and our political leaders should be ashamed of themselves.

More failure from Obama and Co.

Today the numbers for economic growth were released and demonstrated yet again that the Obama economic policies have been an epic failure. Growth for the previous quarter was revised downward to a recession-like 0.4%. Growth for the most recent quarter was almost as bad: 1.3%.

This virtual non-growth is miles from where we were at in previous expansions. The Reagan expansion (still the gold standard for growth during an expansion in peacetime) at this point was churning along at 8% with declining inflation, poverty and unemployment.

The time has come for the Democrats to admit their mistakes and stop holding the people of America hostage with their policies of endless debt.

Call your representatives and demand that they cut spending first and cut spending significantly as part of any budget or debt deals going forward.

It's far past time that Congress adhered to a real budget. That's the only way we can restore real economic growth and create a climate that facilitates job growth.

Liberal attempts to sow fear, uncertainty and doubt fail

Hopefully Republicans have learned their lessons from the TARP debacle and will not cave in to rumors about "financial meltdowns" if they don't do what the liberals want them to.

Today was supposed to be Black Monday, where the markets would melt down because Republicans refused to raise taxes on everyone.

Instead there was a quite normal day at the market. The stock market, being relatively free, has already priced in a failed debt deal. There will be some movement as people close out their positions if a deal dose fail to materialize but any large market swings will be the result of people who panic buy/sell.

The market knows full well that continued liberal polices are the greatest threat to America. If the debt ceiling is not increased we will only start defaulting on some of the debt if Obama chooses to do so. There are plenty of revenues coming in to cover the debt and automatic payments due from the government, such as Social Security checks.

Republicans need to stand their ground and demand spending cuts first and any tax hikes should come only after spending cuts have actually been enacted (with provisions that the tax increases are repealed if the cuts are repealed).

Democrats are proven liars on this issue. Republicans need to begin every discussion on the debt, deficit, spending cuts and tax hikes by reminding everyone of that.

Walker and Wisconsin win

Governor Walker's reforms have borne fruit: hundreds of jobs have been saved across the state and the only schools that have been shut down are those that foolishly trusted unions to keep their word.

“We laid off 27 [teachers] as a precautionary measure,” Koczela told me. “They were crying. Some of these people are my friends.”

On June 29 at 12:01 a.m., Koczela could finally breathe a sigh of relief. The budget repair bill—delayed for months by protests, runaway state senators, and a legal challenge that made its way to the state’s supreme court—was law. The 27 teachers on the chopping block were spared.

You won't see liberals in the media trumpeting this story, though. They are focused on retelling the same old lies about Wisconsin in an attempt to influence the recall elections being held there.

To hear the MSM tell this story all Republicans are "running" from Governor Walker's reforms and "distancing" themselves from the "damage done by them".

More evidence that liberals don't really care about anyone but the political leaders who want to keep everyone else in economic slavery.

Is it time for an "Al Gore Energy Surtax"?

As a summer heat wave sends air conditioners into high gear and electricity meters spinning fast enough to provide a nice breeze I think it's time to hit the liberal hypocrisy over energy use (and as yet unproven man-caused global warming) head on by proposing an "Al Gore Energy Surtax".

Since the average US household uses about 10-12 thousand KwH (kilowatt hours) in electricity each year a surtax of, say, 100% would be levied on homes consuming more than 20 thousand KwH a year. That's a healthy gap to make sure we don't injure anyone ~~who might vote for us~~ who is an oppressed minority.

The fun part is that Al Gore, who reportedly uses more than 200 thousand KwH in a year (in just one home) would have to pay twice as much for about 180 thousand of those KwH.

Surely $0.15-$0.20 a KwH isn't too much to spare for such an urgent, necessary matter?

Do you think Al Gore would support a measure that would add about $35,000 to his electricity bill for the year?

Neither do I! When it comes to energy and taxes Al Gore prefers to buy electricity from himself. You know, one of those "green" energy coops that he "invests" in. Hypocrisy? Conflict of interest? No, you misunderstand, Al Gore is simply trying to save ~~his own money while he spends yours~~ the Earth!

Seriously, though, how can anyone call this a "good deal"?

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- U.S. taxpayers likely lost $1.3 billion in the government bailout of Chrysler, the Treasury Department announced Thursday.

The government recently sold its remaining 6% stake in the company to Italian automaker Fiat, wrapping up the 2009 auto bailouts that were part of TARP.

An administration that loves to subsidize failure would call it that!

Even though that means $1.3 billion will not be recovered, the Treasury called it a "major accomplishment."

I suppose for an administration mired in failure "only" losing $1.3 billion of the taxpayer's money seems like a "major accomplishment"!

The potential for greater loses is still there, with the government holding about a third of available shares in GM.

Not everyone came out a loser from this program, however. Loyal Democrat voters (union members) got a $4000 bonus from the bailout.

Everyone else got played for a sucker by this program.

oh ... they're calling it a "cellulosic waiver" -- not a fine -- cost to be passed on to the consumer.

This sounds vaguely familiar -- government DEMANDING that somehow, someone must produce this 'magic' product that we need to survive -- OR ELSE!

The whole thing just makes me feel sick. E10 fuel is bad enough. It gives my car a 10% cut in fuel economy. But these days it's hard to even find a station that sells anything else.

When the facts don't fit the theory

People who value real science are of course willing to ask questions when the facts don't fit the theory.

Where is the test of the hypothesis that sulfates are indeed responsible for the lack of warming? In this paper, it's simply "modeled-in" as it fits the data well. That's correlation, not causation.

There is very little exchange of air between the northern and southern hemispheres, and basic climate science shows that most sulfates from China will rain out before they get across the thermal equator. In fact, there is a great deal of literature out there published by luminaries like the Department of Energy's Ben Santer and NASA's James Hansen claiming relative cooling of the northern hemisphere from sulfates, compared to the southern.

So, if it is indeed sulfates cooling the warming, given that there is no net change in global temperature, then the northern hemisphere should be cooling since 1998 (the first year in Kaufmann's paper) while the southern warms. Here are the sad facts:

The opposite is occurring. Why this test was not performed eludes me. Perhaps that is because it provides yet another piece of evidence supporting the hypothesis that we have simply overstated the sensitivity of surface temperature to changes in carbon dioxide.

It's been 30 years since the alarmists first started claiming the sky was falling and global warming would doom us all.

None of their predictions have come true and the skeptic stance that natural variation and the influence of the sun were much more realistic explanations of observed changes in climate has been borne out.

Watching a show on the Revolution. Since it was made in 2006 (that is, prior to Palin Derangement Syndrome) it includes references to bells being rung and shots fired to rouse the population and warn them about the British.

It also speaks of the British coming to seize guns and powder and arrest the leaders.

Obviously the people who made this show were paid by time-traveling Koch brothers! :D

The government has a new plan to bitch-slap responsible citizens with their own tax dollars.

That's right, if you have been making your payments on time...fuck off! The government is only out to bribe people who haven't been paying their bills.

I suppose Obama knows that people who pay their bills on time are likely to vote Republican, so why waste good bribe money on them?

Similar plans were roundly denounced during the 2008 campaign but this new campaign is very "stealthy". It is designed to fly under the radar and quickly reward potential Obama voters with free money worth up to $50K. (If that number sounds familiar it is because that's the same amount Obama's ~~aggrieved farmer~~ reparations program gives out.)

As with the other giveaway programs I urge everyone to apply for them. Only by quickly draining the resources (and giving them the added insult of funding political opponents) can we end these fiscally irresponsible programs.

Glenn Beck fired! Dismal ratings!

So not true.

It has been amusing to watch the self-deluded haters of Glenn Beck fall into their own pit of deceitful propaganda where the only outcome of Glenn Beck doing anything is a result of him being fired or having horrible ratings.

As the linked article details, Glenn Beck has been unusually successful on TV and the haters have been claiming his ratings "are collapsing" for four years now. (This is also evidence that their hate-based campaign to manipulate advertisers has failed as well.)

The truth is that he's leaving his show on Fox News of his own accord to start his own network, GBTV.

No doubt the haters are already claiming ratings for GBTV, which hasn't aired yet, "are collapsing". :P

In a ruling that twists the Commerce Clause in ways that would make FDR weep with joy the Sixth Circuit stated that forcing citizens to purchases goods and services determined by the federal government to be "necessary" does not violate the Constitution.

What's next? Stating that the Commerce Clause makes housing of soldiers a "necessary" burden that must be borne by people who own homes?

The Founders would be ashamed at the ways their Constitution has been perverted.

Judge James Graham was the only one who correctly interpreted the Constitution in this case, writing: "If the exercise of power is allowed and the mandate upheld, it is difficult to see what the limits on Congress's Commerce Clause authority would be. What aspect of human activity would escape federal power?"

The answer from liberals on that question is that nothing should escape federal control. That is not the country the Founders created and not the country we should be living in today.

The "Justice" Department declared that anyone who opposed the law was racist. Seeing the pattern here? Any program proposed or implemented by liberals is only questioned by racists. It's an illogical, fallacious defense but the liberal media eats it up and the useful fools love it.

McCarthy is literally turning the notion of "racism" on its head. He claims that laws that allow blacks to have access to guns is racist because some people obtain them via illegal means and some of those people kill blacks with those guns.

Wow.

So because some people steal cars, laws that allow your or I to purchase a car are fostering car theft? That because some owners of those stolen cars are black anyone advocating the free sale of cars is racist?

Such horrible logic from a "top" cop is pretty scary stuff. You can be sure that Chicago area residents will not be treated to justice during his tenure but to his opinion about what the law should be about.

Hopefully someone will as Mr. McCarthy what he thinks of the federal program to route guns to Mexican drug cartels!

That people such as McCarthy reach high levels and have a direct impact on the lives of Americans is an indication of how modern government is failing the citizens of this country. Someone who thinks a Constitutionally guaranteed right to own guns and that is available to all and designed in part to prevent slavery is somehow "racist" is someone who doesn't understand the subject at hand.

New York Senate passes gay marriage law

The law, which includes protection for religious groups that do not wish to perform gay marriages, is one that should have received more than four Republican votes. (It should have received all of them!)

Republicans are only enabling the Democrats, which have been just as anti-gay marriage in the past, to paint Republicans as against civil rights. For those old enough to remember, the Democrats did the same thing in the 1960s after flipping on civil rights for blacks; accusing Republicans of being against the very rights they supported for more than 100 years because they objected to the methods endorsed by Democrats such as mandatory busing.

The fact that Republicans were right about busing didn't undo the damage caused by decades of bad press on the issue.

In the close races that will define the 2012 election cycle Republicans can't afford to give the Democrats a free pass on gay marriage.
