wtf?
Democrats and eugenics...again
We already knew that Ruth Bader Ginsburg has a penchant for issuing reality-challenged rulings based on straw-man arguments. Now in an interview in the New York Times she openly admits to not just supporting eugenics but also believing that abortion (and it's legalization) was a way to fulfill that vision.
JUSTICE GINSBURG: Yes, the ruling about that surprised me. [Harris v. McRae — in 1980 the court upheld the Hyde Amendment, which forbids the use of Medicaid for abortions.] Frankly I had thought that at the time Roe was decided, there was concern about population growth and particularly growth in populations that we don’t want to have too many of. So that Roe was going to be then set up for Medicaid funding for abortion. Which some people felt would risk coercing women into having abortions when they didn’t really want them. But when the court decided McRae, the case came out the other way. And then I realized that my perception of it had been altogether wrong.

Wow...using the government to get rid of "undesirable" populations. Right out of Margaret Sanger's teachings!

And there are also little gems like this:
Q: The case ties together themes of women’s equality and reproductive freedom. The court split those themes apart in Roe v. Wade. Do you see, as part of a future feminist legal wish list, repositioning Roe so that the right to abortion is rooted in the constitutional promise of sex equality?

JUSTICE GINSBURG: Oh, yes. I think it will be.

Excuse me? What part of "gender equality" is served by an abortion? That because men don't "have" to be pregnant, neither do women? What kind of thought process is going on there? I think it is very revealing in all the talk about abortion in the article not once does Bader mention babies or children. Apparently there are only oppressed women and their patriarchal oppressors involved.

It's also revealing that she complains that a woman's "right to choose" shouldn't be given to the state where abortion is concerned but argues that exact opposite of that position when ownership of guns is the issue. Yet ownership of firearms is a clearly established right via the Second Amendment while abortion is not.

It's like I said: it's becoming impossible to distinguish between parody and actual statements from Democrats on the issues. They've simply dropped all pretense of hiding their real agenda: they want to run your life for you. Hey, it's only a bad thing if you disagree with them. :P

Welcome to the new slavery!

I read most of that interview... at least until the all-too-familiar pain behind my left eye became unbearable.

Had to give up on it before I burnt the gearbox out of my brain.

You make it sound like giving the option to have an abortion is a sinister government plot...?

That's not what she's getting at. The right to have an abortion would be in addition to the promise of gender equality, all tied up in the general package of women's rights. =)

That's not the part he was getting at with the part of his post you quoted. He was remarking on this sentence: "Frankly I had thought that at the time Roe was decided, there was concern about population growth and particularly growth in populations that we don’t want to have too many of." Emphasis mine, of course.

What "progressives" don't understand

Bader-Ginsburg hasn't figured out that you will NEVER convince a significant part of the population that there is nothing wrong with abortion. 38 years of relentless pro-abortion propaganda from the news media, Hollywood, and the schools hasn't covered up the fact that there are now 48 million dead Americans slaughtered on the altar of personal convenience. Now for the first time since Roe, the worst SCOTUS decision ever, a majority of people are polling pro-life. Now the pro-abort side still dictates a lot of policy, especially now. But while it might still take time, I think the pro-life view has the wind at its back. More women are realizing abortion is a panacea. It doesn't make them "free" or "equal." Life is better than death, guilt, and a lifetime of wondering "what if."

Re: What "progressives" don't understand

I do have to say I'm glad our population doesn't include 48 million more liberals.

Make no mistake: Abortion stops a liberal beating heart.

Re: What "progressives" don't understand

"Roe effect" notwithstanding, a liberal mind can always be changed. I don't wish for anyone to end up a bloodied mess in an abortionist's bucket.

She is absolutely nuts.

Don't we have a process for removing judges who have lost their minds?

Unfortunately, no.

That was a rhetorical question.

We do have a process, but the Democrats aren't likely to exercise it.

See, we were right all along!

The leftists (i.e. "mainstream Democrats") have done and said more in the last 6 months to prove what Conservatives have known and been saying about them for decades: They are the party of death, economic terrorism, and the home of racism." Maybe now the sheeple will begin to start listening to us, realize that we were right all along, and cast off the Media-driven mischaracterizations, which are nothing more than leftist neurotic projections.
