Tom DeLay wins first round against renegade prosecutor
Tom DeLay won the opening round against renegade prosecutor Ronnie Earle when a judge ruled that a new judge should be appointed to avoid the appearance of a conflict of interest.
A semi-retired judge who was called in to hear the dispute, C.W. Bud Duncan, ruled in Delay's favor without comment. Duncan ordered the appointment of a new judge to preside over the case.

state District Judge Bob Perkins has made contributions to MoveOn, an extremist left-wing group that dedicates itself to opposing high-ranking Republicans and their issues.

Looks like Ronnie Earle isn't going to get his "trial by drowning" and be satisified with trial by wart inspection.

(Trial by drowning is a means of identifying a witch by drowning her. If she dies she isn't a witch. Trial by wart inspection means looking on the body for hidden warts. If a wart is found she is a witch.)
